It's always Summer somewhere

If you are like me it just seems too early for Fall, for football and pumpkins and bobbing for apples. Thankfully it's always Summer somewhere, especially in SL, and Flow's excellent boardshorts and retro swim suits from this month's Mens Dept provide a nice excuse to ignore the season and enjoy some SL rays. The boardshorts have a texture-change band and like the swim suits are available with liquid-mesh sizing in a range of colors and at an attractive price.

The avis feature skins by (Red)Sand (previously bogged here) and a recent skin gift from Aeva with shapes by Novus and Shape it Up. Hair is from Alli & Ali, where numerous styles are on sale for 50l through the end of the month.

Vegas Style

A few looks today mostly from Menswear Fashion Week, with a little Fantasy Faire thrown in for good measure. MWFW brings together a large number of designers focused on menswear with fashion shows and new releases for the event (ends Apr 27). The theme is Las Vegas this year, which means casual, stylish clothing with a rakish twist - like with SF Design's new Lounge Lizard jacket, which has a texture change hud with six cool motifs (sale price of just 100l for the duration of the event). I also quite like American Bazaar's open shirt/tee combination, available in various colors and with different tee options. It looks great with BeUp!'s new jeans and you'll feel like money wearing it.

Las Vegas is all about fantasy and 22769/Bauwerk's Royal Room skybox from Fantasy Faire would fit right in there. It's Mesh with marble texturing and has a master suite & main living area suitable for high rollers. You can check out 22769's numerous fashion releases for Fantasy Faire through the 28th.

The Lodge

I'm starting a series of posts using a Scarlet Creative build I've wanted to highlight for some time. The Noelle Chalet is a lovely small house featuring an interesting mix of raw wood, exposed beams and glass with a modern twist and available at a great price (50l unfurnished, 199l furnished). Beautifully furnished (I've added only a few pieces, but you really don't need to), the build was designed as a rustic mountain getaway and looks great surrounded by snow, but some of the design elements made me think it could function just as well as a small hunting lodge, perhaps on the plains of Africa.

Note if you are interested in checking out a demo, follow the beacon from the landing point to the teleporter that takes you to Scarlet Creative's discount area. Also the female clothes here are free gifts from the opening of the Zenshi Shopping district. I don't know how much longer they will be available, but if you visit the various stores there you will find many more gifts.

Richmond

Mens Dept started its December round last week and as usual there are tons of great things both for your avi and home. I especially like the Nordic Sweaters from bleak, but the furniture is also outstanding, particularly the Nippon desk set and matching shelf from Kusshon, which includes some cool associated decor items.

The Frost shopping event also started today. American Bazaar is participating with some very nice new sweaters at a very low price. Go check it out...apparently there are some excellent deals to be had there.

Autumn is on the way so I thought I'd do a small round-up of some early Fall fashions using two nice pose prop gifts from Bent and What Next that fit the theme. Vintagy

With August drawing to a close, there are just a few days left for Vintage Fair (ends Aug 29), where you will find three sims with 100s of shops showcasing new releases with a "vintage" twist (along with the occasional gift). I love to see the pose props/poses released at these events and Vintage Fair is full of new items from the posemakers. One of the best is "Escher" from Bent, which has 22 cool, artsy poses in a surreal, multi-level white structure that reminds me of a classic Calvin Klein fragrance ad.

The post also features two new skin releases. Ezra is another in a series of great skins from Heartsick available at Vintage Fair and I imagine in-store after the event. Essences' new skin Dinu is on-sale at Mens Dept for the super low price of 85l (Essences is also gifting a tone from this skin in the Menstuff hunt).

Autumn Leaves

The leaves have turned and finally started to come down where I am. Living in a city, I don't have to rake them anymore, which was one of the painful chores of my youth. It always seemed like a hopeless task. As soon as you piled them up, a gust of wind would come and decimate the pile while blowing loads more from the trees. After a while, I would forget about raking and instead pick them up and throw them around - into the street or the neighbor's yard. Of course, the wind would usually blow them right back. Maybe I'm a little bit nostalgic...
