Getaway

The August Mens Dept round is underway, where you can pick up this great vest/shirt combo from Breath, perfect for your more adventurous Summer getaways. My avi features a new skin from Mudskins, also found at Mens Dept, which pairs nicely with a free shape from Curves and Ink's cool Uber hair. Astrid makes a great flight attendant - always calm under pressure despite the in-flight turbulence- and she is showing a version of Lumae's Una skin along with hair from Ploom and a Baholi shape.

Cranberry Isle

Nothing like the joys of a weekend getaway. Cranberry Isle, a 30-minute ferry ride from the Maine mid-coast, is known for it's quaint streets and sprawling summer clapboard houses, wooded paths and rugged shore. Bikes are the preferred means of travel here and any old rust bucket with a basket will do. Happily, the days have warmed enough to stash the winter wardrobe, but a sweater or jacket is still required. Visit before the summer people come!

All clothing from the May round of Mens Department, which ends soon so don't miss it, plus two items from the upcoming Men Only Hunt, one of the year's best events for SL males (will show more from that hunt when it gets underway).

The Well-Dressed Man...

Every Mens Dept round makes me feel well-dressed and this one is no exception. From the amazing Just Cool jacket that can be modified right down to the buttons with the included hud, to the stylishly casual Etham sweater/shirt, which also has texture-change options for the T-shirt and scarf, Mens Dept should be your 1st stop every month for looking good (see my post here for more items from this round). Not to forget the Monso hair and Sorgo glasses - I think you know where to find them - which will add some rakish charm to any look.

Other items shown below include decor pieces found this month at Mens Dept - the marquee by Seven is texture change as well and quite useful when you need to get your message out - and I also quite like (Red)Sand's texture change "Classy" pants. The Divalicious skin is a great deal too: only 99l for a few more days at SYSP and includes various tones, beards and a shape.

Air

Dirty Little Secret has an excellent gift in the Something Old, Something New Hunt: a fully furnished, multi-level build called Air. Like its name, the house emphasizes the flow of light and air, with the use of skylight ceilings, glass walls, exterior staircases, multiple patio areas and draped fabrics. Air also features a water surround with trees, built-in wall storage in the bedroom/bathroom and the furniture is available as separates, so you can keep what you want (or use it in other builds). I've added some pieces from End of Daze that work well in the space.

Tash Porthos of Dirty Little Secret is also celebrating the anniversary of her store with a ton of group gifts and the DLS group is free to join until the end of the month. Join her group for her latest Mesh gifts (and stay in it because Tash is always generous).

Some of the clothing here is from the November Mens Dept (ends Dec 1), including a new release blazer from American Bazaar available with different tee combinations. Finally, the skin/shape I've used here is a new group gift from Aeva/Heartsick.

Old Glory

Is everyone ready for the 4th of July? Stocked up on the hot dogs, beer and fireworks? The grid is full of ways to show some pride... and it won't even cost you much.

I've retreated to a cabin in the woods for the next month, compliments of Boathouse. This was a short-term group gift that I don't think is available anymore, but Boathouse has tons of similar items for purchase at good prices (or join the Boathouse group - it's worth it for the great gifts).
